This is a former Texas A & M shuttle bus that has been tagged/ titled as an RV in Indiana. Conversion has been started, and is about 1/3 done. Walls have been placed, the bed platform is in, the kitchen counter is in, and the toilet flange has been installed. Electricity has been installed, complete with 100 amp service box and RV plug in. The driver's seat has been replaced with an El Dorado VIP air ride seat for a smooth ride.
Mechanically, this bus rocks. The Cummins VT-555 turbo diesel engine has been overhauled 130,000 miles ago, and has been souped up from 225 to 245 horsepower. The Allison MT-643 automatic trans shifts perfectly, and the rear end is a 6.17:1 gear ratio. Top speed is limited by the rear end gearing to 57 mph, but it will do this uphill and down all day long -- and get about 8.5 mpg doing it. Should you want to increase the speed, this can be done using any 22,000 lb rear axle -- a 4.33:1 ratio will give you 75-80 mph.
This unit has been impecably maintained, with all fluids and filters being changed every 10k miles; it has been greased/ lubed every 5,000 miles. The 11R22.5 Firestone tires are in good condition, with most being above 65% rubber.
