1958 GMC 4104 Silversides Greyhound Bus Conversion- One of a kind classic road bus!
This wonderful 49-year-old bus has a lot of really nice mechanical features.
Marvelous strong 671 Detroit Diesel engine starts every time, 4-speed Allison transmission, New Kevlar clutch, New air compressor, New air lines, New brake system parts, negative air parking brake, air suspension, unbelievably easy hydraulic power steering assist front tires are 600 dollar Hankooks with less than 1000 miles on them, rear tires all have plenty of miles left. There’s even an aircraft-type manual fuel pump in case you should ever (Heaven forbid) run out of fuel and need to refill your lines.
The conversion has an Onan 6.5 kw generator that runs on propane, with an 80 pound propane tank, a stainless steel 150 gallon fresh water tank, and an 80 gallon black/gray water tank. Onan or shore power feeds constant recharge to the batteries to drive the 12 volt systems while camped or parked. Lighting in bus is both 120-volt AC and 12-volt DC. 2 rooftop air conditioners. Propane stove, no oven. 120 AC reefer. New paint- spic and span throughout.
This vehicle is registered as an RV so no commercial driver’s license is needed. She has been driven cross-country and on all types of roads- including mountains without any problems. Our family has owned this coach since 1993. We have completely redone the conversion since it was bought. Prior to its original conversion it was a greyhound bus. Only faults are the bus has some cracking on the windows and one bay has a dent in the door. Original chrome trim, beautiful plush carpet in purple and teal. Grey sheepskin passenger seats up front. Complete 4104 parts and maintenance manuals are included and a catalog of sources for bus parts as well. Formerly a Family Motor Coach registered vehicle. The bus is 35 feet long and we no longer need such a large vehicle for traveling. It would make an ideal bus for a band or bigger family/ group. This bus will make any long, strange trip into a comfy, fun journey.
